This morning, my daughter was a little overwhelmed.
I could see she was about to cry.

We sat down on the staircase, and I cuddled her.
I told her that there are three secrets to feeling happy:

1. See the world for what it is.
Often, life is hard, and kids on the bus are mean.
Flow around obstacles the way a stream flows around rocks.
It gets turbulent momentarily, then continues as if nothing has happened.

2. Be your best at a given moment.
You'll have tranquility when you try your best, especially when life is hard.
Tranquility is a feeling similar to looking at a beautiful lily flower.
We forget it grew up from the muddy bottom of a pond.

3. Do not worry too much.
We should care about people. We should be kind.
However, we should not care about their opinions of us.
Everyone is different.
Some people like sweets, some like sour.
Some just can not be pleased at all.
Take your life with a pinch of salt instead.
Approach life with a sense of humor, curiosity, and inner strength.
Not too seriously.

4. I hugged her for a long while. I told her I loved her so much.

Yup, there are four things.
Along with your “own” virtues, having people who love you is equally important to have a happy life.

I am not perfect, just like you are not.
Today, I felt guilty for rushing to work too early.
I felt guilt all the way while driving for not staying a little longer.
We can only make sure that we will keep on trying.
